Summer Reading
1st grade entering 2nd grade
Summer is a great time for your child to read lots of books. Help your child choose books that are not too hard or too easy, just right for them. I suggest they read for 15 minutes, 5 days a week to maintain fluency and comprehension skills. They can read to themselves or listen as you read aloud to them.
Each student is required to read Henry and Mudge and the Forever Sea by Cynthia Rylant. This is a chapter book. Parents are welcome to read a page aloud and then your child reads a page aloud. After reading this book, complete the attached book report. This assignment is due the first day of school.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I hope everyone has a safe, fun-filled summer, and I look forward to seeing you in September!
