Larry Davidson is an alumni of Haverford HS. Upon graduation he attended The University of the Arts as a music major. While in school he played a lot of trumpet with various bands around the Philadelphia area and worked quite a few gigs with his own jazz quintet. Upon graduation from the University of the Arts Larry played with an area Latin/Salsa band known as “Panama” and began some private teaching in the Havertown area. Shortly after that, Larry joined the Glenn Miller Orchestra and performed seven days a week, fifty weeks a year, for three years. The band performed in every state in America, all over Canada, ten countries in Europe, Japan and South America. Finally after tiring of “living out of a suitcase” Larry returned home to Havertown. He began performing with area bands once again, private teaching, and doing music copy work for several popular music publishing companies. Larry became the jazz band director of Haverford HS for three years and then at Cardinal O’Hara HS for twelve years. He now teaches full time for Northeastern Music Programs and teaches privately in and around the Havertown area. Mr. Davidson directs the Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School Junior and Senior bands.
