MOTHER OF PROVIDENCE REGIONAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL PLACES NATIONALLY IN FIRST IN MATH
Wallingford, PA, June 10, 2015– Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School students and faculty attended the First in Math Awards Ceremony at St. Laurence School in Upper Darby on June 9th. Over a million schools in the United States participate in the First in Math Program. First in Math is a Math enrichment program that uses online games to reinforce and supplement math concepts learned in the classroom. Mother of Providence has seen a direct correlation between students standardized test scores in Math and the use of the First in Math program.
At this year’s award ceremony, it was announced that of the top one hundred students in the nation using the First in Math program, eight were from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Several Archdiocesan schools placed in the top one hundred schools nationally and Mother of Providence was in the top five schools nationally. Two of the teams from Mother of Providence placed in the top one hundred teams nationally and Mrs. Ruth Bachman, the school’s Honors Math Teacher and Math program coordinator placed in the top 20 teachers in the nation. Two family players from Mother of Providence placed in the top 100 nationally. Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School accumulated over one million points playing First in Math and reached 89% of the school’s goals, the highest percentage regionally.
