Criteria for Grades 4 - 8

4 – Exceeds Course Expectations with Distinction

• Always comes to class prepared to learn.
• Demonstrates excellent effort in the course.
• Consistently demonstrates a high level of understanding and skills based on course standards.
• Shows creative and new ways of thinking.
• Goes beyond the expectations of the class (helps/teaches others, extra projects, etc.)

3 – Meeting Course Expectations

• Consistently comes to class prepared to learn.
• Demonstrates good effort in the course.
• Consistently demonstrates understanding and skills based on course standards.
• Demonstrates sound thinking.

2 – Progressing Toward Course Expectations

• Does not consistently come to class prepared to learn.
• Effort in the course needs improvement.
• Demonstrates some understanding and skills based on course standards.

1 – Area of Concern

• Does not demonstrate effort in the course.
• Does not come to class prepared to learn.
• Does not meet course standards.
• Requires more time and instruction to gain a basic level of skill and understanding.
