Mrs. Mindy Battista-St. John’s Chrysostom Class of 1992
On Teaching at Her Alma Mater
“My name is Ms. Mindy (Goryl) Battista, and I am a 92 graduate of St. John Chrysostom. I started to teach at SJC in 2002 for 10 years- 5 years in Third Grade and 5 years in Fifth Grade. I have been teaching at Mother of Providence for the last 8 years as a Pre-K 4 teacher. This is such a wonderful and involved community to be a part of for all these years. Not only am I a teacher here, my two sons, Noah (4th Grade) and Landon (K), attend MPRCS.”

On Memories from Grade School Years
"I am the charge RN working at all the Main Line Health hospitals, doing inpatient dialysis. I am married with 2 cats and 1 dog, and we live in Ridley Park. Funnily enough, the old class photo that is displayed on the alumni page is my 2nd grade class and I am front and center in it! I made the best of friends while attending SJC for 1st-8th grade, some of which are still my closest friends today. The values and life skills I learned at this school have stayed with me."
Julia (Quindlen) Hotek- St. John’s Chrysostom Class of 2004
On Career Success Inspired by Mathematics
"My love of math and science began during my 8 years at SJC thanks to the talented teachers I had in the Accelerated Math program. I received my PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and moved back to Philadelphia to research neuromodulation therapies for spine pain as a postdoctoral fellow at Penn. I currently work as a Senior Scientist in Investigative Safety Pharmacology at Merck. Math has been the fundamental building block in my education and career, and I owe that to the solid foundation instilled during my time at SJC."
