The SeaPerch Team will begin meeting on October 25th, 2016 and will meet every Tuesday through March from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.. We will work carefully to minimize scheduling conflicts with other MPRCS activities in which your child may be participating. Please let us know if you're interested even if you're not sure you can fit it in your schedule.
Sponsored by the Office of Naval Research and managed by the AUVSI Foundation, SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program in which students build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an afterschool setting with the goal of competing in the Greater Philadelphia SeaPerch Challenge. Throughout the SeaPerch project, students have fun learning about robotics, engineering concepts, problem solving, design skills, teamwork, tool safety and technical procedures.
The competition is tentatively scheduled for March 17th, 2017 and will include categories such as team spirit and poster presentation, which will benefit from the talents of artists and other “non-technical” folks - so come be part of the submarine-building team!
We NEED parent volunteers to help monitor the students’ activities! Even if your own child is too young to participate, please consider helping our older kids with this cool club (you will be given training & clear, specific instructions).
Interested students and parents should come to a meeting or sign up below:
