Calendar of Events - Mark your calendars!!
Week of April 24-28th we will not have any tests this week and we will have limited homework due to the Play Rehearsals that will be happening. The only Homework we will have is to get ready to present your Fairy Tale to the class on Friday. Be sure you have practiced your Fairy Tale Re-tell. You should have it memorized and be ready to go on Friday! You have had a month to complete this!!!
Friday April 28th -
FAIRY TALE PROJECTS ARE DUE - please bring your poster, props, costume to school with you. Students can wear gym uniforms to school on this day so that it is easy for them to change into costumes!
Week of April 18-21 in First Grade:
Andrew is our "Student of the Week"
Math: We will be learning about solid shapes: cone, cube, cylinder, sphere, rectangular prism. We will be learning that some solids have sides, some have points or vertices, and spheres do not have sides or vertices.
Spelling: Our Spelling words for this week are words with oo words.. Our Challenge words are: among, another, instead, none, poor, answered, different, carry, against, goes. These are also our Sight words for the week. We will play SPARKLE to review our words on Thursday - be sure to know your spelling words. We will also have to take at least 8 challenge words on this weeks spelling test and we will be having a dictation sentence on our spelling test. This sentence will have current spelling words, past spelling words, and word wall words that will be visible during the test.
Reading/ELA: In Reading this week, we will be reading the story "Dot and Jabber". We will see that sometimes we must be a detective to solve a mystery. "Be sure to practice your Sight Word Bag!!!! We will also be Pronouns for ourself: me and I.
Religion: We will be learning about Easter and Jesus' Resurrection and what happened when he saw his faithful friends again.
Social Studies: We will be learning about our 7 continents and 4 Oceans of the World.
Science: This week we will be learning about Living and Non-living things.
WE ARE A PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE CLASSROOM- PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN ANYTHING CONTAINING PEANUTS FOR SNACK TIME!!!!
Red Test Folder: First Graders will be bringing home their weekly tests every Tuesday. Please sign the tests and return them to me in their Red Test Folder every Wednesday.

O = Outstanding Equivalent to A+
VG= Very Good Equivalent to A
G = Good Equivalent to B
S = Satisfactory Equivalent to C or Average
I = Improvement Needed Equivalent to D
U = Unsatisfactory Equivalent to F or Failing
Please be sure your child's name is in all of their belongings especially their lunch box, book bag, sweaters and sweatshirts.
will begin on Monday September 12th. a Homework sheet will come home in your child's Blue Take- Home Folder. This folder should come to school daily. This folder has two pockets~ "L" (leave at home) and "R" (return to School). Any correspondence to me should be put in the blue folder on the "R" side.
Tissues, Wipes, and Paper towels:
We are in need of tissues, wipes, and paper towels for our classroom. If you are able to provide a box of tissues, a package of Chlorox wipes, and a roll of paper towels we would be most appreciative!
First in Math
- Students will be given their log-ins and passwords to play First in Math in the next couple weeks. This is an educational game that focuses on basic math facts and computation. Their First in Math passwords are on a label in their Blue folder. The folder goes home every night (including weekends) so students have the codes with them at all times. They are encouraged to play at home in their free time.
