Calendar of Events - Mark your calendars!!
Tuesday March 28th: This is a 12:00 dismissal day for all students due to Confirmation at St. Johns. Please be sure your child has a snack and does not have a lunch on this day. Also, there will be NO AFTER SCHOOL CARES on this day.
Thursday April 6: Living Stations of the Cross at 1:15 and at 7PM: Our 8th grade will act out the Stations of the Cross. Students will see the 1:15 act.
Tuesday April 11- Monday April 17th - Easter Vacation. School will resume on Tuesday April 18th.
Week of March 20-24 in First Grade:
Phoebe is our "Student of the Week"
Math: We will be starting Chapter 10 on Graphing. We will be learning about bar graphs (horizontal and vertical), picture graphs, and Talley mark graphs.
Spelling: Our Spelling words for this week are words ending in -ly and -ful.. Our Challenge words are: across, because, dance, only, opened, shoes, told. These are also our Sight words for the week. We will play SPARKLE to review our words on Thursday - be sure to know your spelling words. We will also have to take at least 7 challenge words on this weeks spelling test and we will be having a dictation sentence on our spelling test. This sentence will have current spelling words, past spelling words, and word wall words that will be visible during the test.
Reading/ELA: In Reading this week, we will be reading the story "Henry and Mudge". We will see that some precious items and time with a friend can be treasures. "Be sure to practice your Sight Word Bag!!!! We will also be Adjectives - describing words
Religion: We will be hearing different Bible Stories and writing summaries in our own words
Social Studies: We will be learning about Lent and St. Patrick
Science: This week we will be learning about liguids and properties of liquids. We will be combining liquids to see what happens when liquids are mixed.
WE ARE A PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE CLASSROOM- PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN ANYTHING CONTAINING PEANUTS FOR SNACK TIME!!!!
Red Test Folder: First Graders will be bringing home their weekly tests every Tuesday. Please sign the tests and return them to me in their Red Test Folder every Wednesday.

O = Outstanding Equivalent to A+
VG= Very Good Equivalent to A
G = Good Equivalent to B
S = Satisfactory Equivalent to C or Average
I = Improvement Needed Equivalent to D
U = Unsatisfactory Equivalent to F or Failing
Please be sure your child's name is in all of their belongings especially their lunch box, book bag, sweaters and sweatshirts.
will begin on Monday September 12th. a Homework sheet will come home in your child's Blue Take- Home Folder. This folder should come to school daily. This folder has two pockets~ "L" (leave at home) and "R" (return to School). Any correspondence to me should be put in the blue folder on the "R" side.
Tissues, Wipes, and Paper towels:
We are in need of tissues, wipes, and paper towels for our classroom. If you are able to provide a box of tissues, a package of Chlorox wipes, and a roll of paper towels we would be most appreciative!
First in Math
- Students will be given their log-ins and passwords to play First in Math in the next couple weeks. This is an educational game that focuses on basic math facts and computation. Their First in Math passwords are on a label in their Blue folder. The folder goes home every night (including weekends) so students have the codes with them at all times. They are encouraged to play at home in their free time.
